GUEST BLOG: Madeleine Shaw's deliciously healthy flapjack recipe

Madeleine Shaw is a qualified Nutritional Health Coach and she has kindly designed this deliciously healthy flapjack recipe for Chloe's Pilates readers….

These flapjacks are made of a blend of nuts. Almonds are amazing at dosing your beautiful skin with some Vitamin E, while pecans contain several important B-complex groups of vitamins. Sunflower seeds are also include which you’re body uses with magnesium to soothe the nerves, easing stress, headaches and helping you relax!


  • 150g of dates
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp of manuka honey 
  • 150g of almonds
  • 150g of pecans
  • 150g of hazelnuts
  • 150g of sunflower seeds
  • 30g of coconut oil
  • 1 TBSP of cinnamon powder
  • 1 TBSP of ginger powder
  • pinch of sea salt
  • optional – 1TSP of ground cloves and nutmeg


  1. Preheat your oven to 180ºC
  2. In a food processor, blend the almonds, pecans and hazelnuts for 30 seconds to a minute – until lightly ground
  3. Add in the rest of the ingredients
  4. Blitz until totally everything is fully mixed
  5. Place into a baking tray greased with coconut oil, bake for 20 minutes
  6. We’re aiming for crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside!
